CARVED DOWRY CHEST

Elaborately carved wooden dowry chest, dating to the 18th century. Showcases masterful construction and carved motifs, with a date inscribed on the lower register of, “1748”. Hand forged iron hardware and hinges with sweetheart motifs. Scrolled forged lock and original key.

Condition: Good. Lower register appears to have been reconstructed in the past. Shows a few areas of damage and signs of previous repairs.
